December Calendar

December already !  I've done pages for every month, even if some of them were a bit late.  And I have filled them in most days!

December is in shades of blue and green, with a little yellow watercolour, stamped using Distress Inks and the Craft Stamper Magazine's December free stamp, a snowflake made of holly.  I stamped it in a hurry one evening, so did not do a very good job.  But it is lovely stamp if you get it right.  I did a bit of silver embossing too, to fit the snowflake theme.

Its been great doing an Art Calendar every month, and I loved looking at everyone else's pages.

Here's to next year!

November calendar pages

So here we are - another month.  Although it's getting dark early, and colder, I can't believe another year is nearly over.

I started painting my pages for November a few days ago, because we had a guest coming to stay Tues, Weds and Thursday nights. However, I had today off and so had time to finish stamping and decorating the pages.  Purple, blue and yellow this month, using the Craft Stamper Magazine's free stamp for November - lovely hanging stars, on which I added some gold with a sakura pen.

I forgot to photograph the pages in progress, so here's a picture of the finished thing.

Superb set of stamps from Craft Stamper all this year -well done to them.

September and October pages

Oops, I did take some photos of my September pages but forgot to post them at the beginning of September.  So here are the October pages, ready to go - only just finished them today, Sunday 7 October,  so I am behind in my journalling.  And the September pages before I wrote on them.

August calendar

I failed to take a successful photo of my pages before writing on them, but here they are now.

I painted the background with watercolours in orange, blue and brown, then stippled some butterflies, and stamped with the August Craft Stamper Magazine butterfly stamp.

Sorry for the delay in posting, and, oh dear, its taken me half an hour tonight to get the pictures to upload!

July 2012

Here are my July pages - I took the photos a few days ago but didn't have time to post them on the blog until now.  This is the calendar when it was ready to use, with added pink and blue bunting. I stamped the craft stamper free stamp bunting onto coloured paper, cut it out and stuck it on.

Below is the calendar after I had painted the background in watercolour using pink, blue and yellow.  I drew the day squares on first, then painted around them.  I stamped the bunting flags on the background, so I knew where to stick the coloured bunting.  No stencilling on the backgorund this month, just paint.

June Calendar all ready to use

painting the pages
day boxes and stippling added

all ready to use !

I painted the pages with watercolours in blue, pink and yellow, then drew the boxes for the days doodle-style, stippled swirls using a Creative Expressions mask and Distress Inks.  Then I stamped swirls using the Craft Stamper magazine free stamp for June, which is a lovely round swirl.

May 2012 Calendar

So here is the May calendar.  I painted a light watercolour wash over the pages, then stippled distress inks through masks, drew the daily boxes, painted round them darker, and stamped using the lovely Craft Stamper Magazine free flower stamp for May, and coloured the flowers with darker DIs.  I like this stamp a lot.  The black ink looks very dark in the picture, but good in real life, where you can see the watercolours better.  I also like the effect I get using the masks.  I've kept my colour scheme flowing - April was green, yellow and brown and May is yellow, green and pink.

April Calendar

I didn't get my April calendar done on time, so did not post a copy of it unwritten.  But here it is all filled in.  I'm not too keen on the look of these pages, except for the colours, but never mind.

March Calendar

Here are my March pages ready to go, in my moleskin watercolour book. First I painted the pages with purple, green and blue watercolour, putting a bit too much deep purple on the top left hand page at the start, so I had to try to add a bit of darker colour on the right hand page too. As an experiment this time, I drew the boxes for the days onto the pages first, before adding any paint. Not a bad result, I think, but I accidentally gave myself space for day 32 at the end - so I'll have to write a bit extra at the end of March! Then I stamped using the Craft Stamper Magazine March free stamp of a little castle, and a few other bits, and coloured the castles with sakura pens. But my purple glaze pen is running low on ink, I think, so doesn't look very good.

By accident, I seem to have come up with a running colour theme, an idea I like. January was painted in yellow, orange and pink, then February was pink, purple and blue, and March is purple, blue and green. So each time at least one colour has carried over to the next month. So I will carry on doing this and April will include green and brown, to go with the lovely new stamp for April.

I'm not sure the decoration on the March pages is complete - I might to have add something more. But I don't know what it should be yet !

February 2012 Calendar pages

For February I painted the pages with watercolour in pink, purple and blue, then used the lovely Craft Stamper mag heart to decorate them, together with a few other stamps. I did the pages in good time, but was too busy yesterday to post them. Haven't written up yesterday yet either.

January written up

Here's my January calendar completed. I forgot to write it up a few times, so had to try to remember what I did.

January

I didn't finish my Art Journal Calendar last year, but this year I will try to keep going. I will be using the Craft Stamper Magazine stamps again as my main decoration each month. I bought a watercolour paper Moleskin journal before Christmas, so this year the calendar will be all in one book. January's pages are painted in yellow and pink, with the Craft Stamper "Cock a Doodle Do" stamp, coloured with sakura pens, and some other free mag stamps.

I also intend to use the craft Stamper mag stamps each month to make some ATCs.

Happy New Year 2012 from Sheila M Jordan.
